PalmX Institute – Community Guidelines
Welcome to the PalmX Institute community. This space exists to support respectful discussion, learning, and collaboration around neuroscience in Africa and the diaspora. These guidelines apply to all PalmX communication channels, including Slack and affiliated platforms.
Please follow these principles:
1. Be Respectful
- Treat all members with professionalism and respect.
- Disagreements are expected; personal attacks, harassment, or dismissive behaviour are not.
- Foster constructive, good-faith scientific discussion.
2. Stay Aligned with the Mission
- Discussions should relate to neuroscience, neurotechnology, cognitive science, or closely related fields.
- Content should support learning, research exchange, or collaboration within African and global contexts.
- Avoid unrelated topics, including partisan politics or non-academic disputes.
3. Share Responsibly
- No spam, advertising, or excessive self-promotion.
- Sharing papers, projects, opportunities, or resources is encouraged when relevant to the community.
4. Communicate Clearly
- Post in appropriate channels and keep messages concise.
- When asking questions, provide sufficient context to support meaningful discussion.
- Maintain a professional, academic tone.
5. Moderation and Enforcement
These guidelines are a framework for healthy interaction, not rigid rules. If disruptive behaviour occurs, moderators may issue a warning or temporarily restrict participation. Repeated or severe violations may result in removal from the platform.
Moderators are responsible for maintaining a respectful and productive environment. Abuse of moderation privileges will result in their removal.
